Child of Japanese

To live with his/her family in Japan, a foreigner need to fulfill requirements of at least one of the "Status of Residence".

(Note: is a foreign national who seeks a residency in Japan, and the others are his/her family.)

A person who was born as a Japanese Child

If either (or both) of parents was a Japanese national at the time of a child was born, a child might be eligible for "Spouse or Child of Japanese national" 「日本人の配偶者等」.

A child of Japanese who was naturalized after child's birth

If
- either (or both) of parents is a naturalized Japanese,
- a child is unmarried,
- a child is minor, and
- a child is sponsored by a Japanese parent,
a child might be eligible for "Long Term Resident" 「定住者」.

A person who was adopted by a Japanese based on Art.817-2 of Civil Code might be eligible for "Spouse or Child of Japanese national" 「日本人の配偶者等」.

- a child is adopted by a Japanese,
- a child is under 6 years old, and
- a child is sponsored by a Japanese parent,
